CSM 2012: On Thursday, February 9th from 10:30AM to 12:30PM, the Section is hosting an educational session of interest entitled "What does the Women's Health Physical Therapist Really Do?" The SSIG highly recommends this session to meet other students interested in women's health and to learn more about this specialty area. To register for CSM 2012 in Chicago visit APTA's website at http://www.apta.org/CSM/Registration/.
In October the SSIG developed its debut quarterly newsletter "Spotlight"! This compilation of literature reviews, pictures, and many other awesome articles is created by students specifically for other students with an interest in women's health physical therapy! Erika Grace, the director of the SSIG attended Capitol Hill Day and Annual Conference this past summer. Approximately 1,000 PTs, PTAs, and SPTs from all around the country attended Capitol Hill Day this year - one third were students! Students were part of state delegations that attended meetings with Representatives and Senators on Capitol Hill, and most students were asked to actually take the lead in discussing the Student Loan Repayment Act with our representatives! Annual Conference offered great programming, including skills training and educational sessions offered by the SOWH. The SSIG had a "meet and greet" for students interested in WH PT. This event was a great success! Several Section members also joined us to answer student questions about becoming specialized in WH PT. We plan to continue to do this at each conference!
